Child labour rescued in Guntur district at the behest of A.P. Governor  
Vijayawada, June 22: The District Collector, Guntur and officials of the District Women & Child Development Agency, police and Labour department, took swift action and freed 42 children (24 boys and 18 girls) hailing from Odisha State, working as child labour in Bhavanam Spinning Mills Pvt. Ltd., in Medikonduru mandal in Guntur district, on June 18, after intervention by Andhra Pradesh Governor Sri Biswa Bhusan Harichandan. 
After receiving information from social activists from Odisha State, on the plight of children from Odisha illegally employed as child labour in the spinning mills, Governor Sri Biswa Bhusan Harichandan directed the District Collector, Guntur to take immediate action and rescue the children and also to make necessary arrangement to send the children back to their native places in Odisha. 
The rescued children were handed over to their parents and the district administration made necessary arrangement to shift the children along with their parents to their native places in Odisha State.
