Health infrastructure improved in the State –
AP Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan
Vijayawada, July 23: Sharing his thoughts and views on the occasion of completion of two years in office, Andhra Pradesh Governor Sri Biswa Bhusan Harichandan has said that the improved health infrastructure in the State saved lives of many Covid-19 patients due to ramped up testing, increased hospital beds, improved oxygen supply, availability of medicines, recruitment of additional health staff etc. The Governor delivered a message to the people of the State on the occasion to be telecast over Doordarshan Saptagiri channel on Saturday.
Governor Sri Harichandan recalled his visit to Rangannagudem village in Bapulapadu mandal of Krishna district and his interaction with the farmers on organic farming being done there in a big way and said Andhra Pradesh can certainly become Arogyandhra Pradesh with wide spread cultivation of organic farming all over the State.
He said by encouraging tree plantation and voluntary blood donation during his visits to the State Universities, a message was conveyed to the student community on environmental consciousness. He said as President of the A.P. State Branch of Indian Red Cross Society, he felt proud that the AP State Branch had won the Guinness World Record for signing maximum number of volunteers for blood donation in a single day, which is an achievement in itself.
Even though many functions and programmes, could not be organized at the Raj Bhavan, due to Covid-19 restrictions, he continued to participate in University Convocations, conferences, meetings etc. in virtual mode through video conference from Raj Bhavan premises itself, said the Governor.
While offering tributes t those who lost their lives due to Covid-19, including the doctors, nurses, healthcare workers who laid their lives while serving the patients in the fight against Covid-19, the Governor said that their loss cannot replaced. Central and State governments have come to the rescue of children orphaned by Covid-19 by extending a helping hand for continuation of their education and to look after their well-being till they become adults, said the Governor. He also said Andhra Pradesh government has been in the forefront in vaccinating more number of people and even created a record by administering over 13 lakh vaccine doses to eligible people in a single day.
Governor Sri Harichandan referred to his participation in the Governors’ Conference on the ‘Role of National Education Policy 2020 in transforming Higher Education’ chaired by Hon’ble President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind and the follow up conference held with the Vice Chancellors of State Universities, wherein he emphasized the need for implementation of NEP 2020 in its true spirit and that Andhra Pradesh should become a role model in the country in implementation of NEP 2020.
He appreciated the resilience shown by the people of Andhra Pradesh in the face of adverse situation posed by Covid-19 and for following the guidelines issued by authorities from time to time. The Governor also appreciated the untiring efforts of the doctors, healthcare workers, Red Cross volunteers, voluntary organizations, police personnel, sanitation workers etc. in prevention of spread of Covid-19 and protecting lives of people and the society.
Governor Sri Harichandan appealed to the people of the State that as new variants of Covid-19 are emerging by the day, the people should remain guarded at all times and continue to follow the Covid-appropriate behavior of wearing mask, maintain social distance and get themselves vaccinated as early as possible, if not already done.
